Sydney based cellist and educator Braxton Neate completed his
undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Queensland Conservatorium,
Griffith University where he studied cello under Mei-Lee and Markus
Stocker and string pedagogy with Elizabeth Morgan AM, obtaining a Bachelor
of Music and Master of Music Studies in cello performance. Braxton has
continued further study in Suzuki pedagogy with Belinda Manwaring and
Takao Mizushima and is an accredited teacher with the Suzuki Talent
Education Association of Australia.
Braxton maintains a large class of cello students ranging in age from
three years old to mature age students, is a conductor and musicianship
tutor with the Sydney Suzuki Cello Choir and a visiting music tutor at
Barker College. He regularly tutors at music camps, workshops and
festivals throughout Australia.
Braxton has formerly served on the Queensland state council’s of the
Australian Strings Association (AUSTA) and Suzuki Talent Education
Association of Australia (STEAA).
In addition to his full time work as a cello teacher Braxton continues to
find time for performance and research. He has previously recorded for ABC
Radio and Television, and was the co-founder of the Brisbane new music
ensemble Ensemble Fabrique.
